Counseling Services and Support Groups

Community-based counseling center that provide a wide range of social and psychological services, including professional readjustment counseling to eligible Veterans, active duty service members, including National Guard and Reserve components, and their families. Bereavement services for family members is also available. Readjustment counseling is offered to make a successful transition from military to civilian life or after a traumatic event experienced in the military. Individual, group, couples, and family counseling is offered in addition to referral and connection to other VA or community benefits and services. Support Groups: - PTSD Support Group 10:00am-12:00pm (CT), Thursdays at the Vet Center - Combat Readjustment Group 9:00am-10:30am (CT), Wednesdays at the Vet Center - OIF/OEF Veteran Group 5:00pm-6:00pm (CT), 2nd and 4th Thursdays at the Vet Center - Veteran Trauma Support Group 10:00am-1:00pm (CT), 3rd Monday at Sisseton VFW Groups are subject to change throughout the year. Must be enrolled at the Vet Center to participate.

Eligibility

Veterans who served in Vietnam, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, Persian Gulf, Korean War, World War II, and Kosovo / Bosnia, or Veterans of the Vietnam Era and the Global War on Terrorism. Additional legislation extended program eligibility to Veterans, Service Members of any combat zone or area of hostility and their families, as well as to Veterans who experienced sexual trauma (MST) as a result of their military service, Pilots of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Mortuary Services/Direct Medical or Mental Health Care for Casualties of War, Response to National Emergency or Major Disaster Declared by the President, National Guard Under Orders of the Chief Executive of that State Response to a Disaster or Civil Disorder in Such State, United States Coast Guard (USCG) Drug Interdiction Operations and Reserve Component Behavioral Health Condition or Psychological Trauma.
