A place relating to its region, its community, its children, and their learning wants and needs. The Museum consists of 44,000 square feet of indoor space and 4 acres of prairie. The museum provides classes and camps for children ages 3 - 12 years of age, special sensory-friendly play opportunities for families that need a low-sensory play environment, and free play in the museum exhibits. Exhibits, both inside and outside, are broad-based to include science, engineering, art, literature, culture, geography, and history.

Application process
No registration needed for Museum entrance; some events require registration; field trips and large groups should pre-register.
Fee
$11.50 daily entry fee; free for under age 1. Family memberships, and grandparent memberships available. If the price of admission or membership is a burden, the Access Initiative offers reduced-price admission and membership. Through the initiative, families receiving some form of public income-related assistance are eligible for $1.00 admission or they can apply for a $15.00 yearlong membership.
