Rent and Utility Bill Assistance

Community Outreach assists people who are struggling with basic financial and non-financial needs by providing information, referral to other resources, and where appropriate, financial assistance in the following areas: - Rental/security deposit and/or 1st month's rent for people seeking housing Available once every 12 months - Prevention assistance: - Evictions ​Available once every 12 months. Must be past due. - Utility shut offs (for water, lights, and heating). Must be either past due or disconnected. Available twice a year. An ecumenical ministry supported by churches, Sioux Empire United Way, and other individual donors.

8:00am - 12:00pm; 1:00pm to 4:00pm (CT), Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 12:00pm (CT), Friday Appointments for all financial assistance are scheduled daily at 8:00am, for the next 2 days.

Application process

Appointment scheduling is every morning at 8:00am for the following 2 days. Appointment is required for rent/deposit and utility assistance. Daily walk-in times are: 8:00am - 11:40am; 1:00pm - 3:40pm, Monday - Thursday and 8:00am - 11:40am, Friday.

Eligibility

-Open to residents of Lincoln, McCook, Minnehaha, and Turner Counties. -For most clients from Minnehaha County, a meeting with Minnehaha County Human Services will be required prior to the appointment with a TCO Caseworker.
