DSS Medical Assistance

Medical assistance programs include: - Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Coverage includes such things as doctor, hospital, prescription drugs, counseling, dental and glasses. - ​Insurance for children up to age 19 at no cost to the family if the income is below certain income levels found on the Federal Poverty Guidelines. - If the family income is below 140%, the children may be eligible with or without private health insurance. - If there is insurance, CHIP will pay the deductibles, co-insurance, and possibly some medical services not covered by the private insurance. - Medicaid - Health care coverage for people who qualify. To be eligible for Medicaid, individuals must fall into a coverage group and meet certain financial and non-financial eligibility criteria. - Help for older adults and people with disabilities. Eligibilty information and income guidelines for medical assistance programs are available by phone or online.
