A Brush With Kindness (ABWK) - ABWK helps low-income homeowners who struggle to maintain the exterior of their homes, allowing them to reclaim their homes with pride and dignity. ABWK helps revitalize the appearance of the neighborhood, strengthens connections within the community and helps preserve affordable housing stock. Aging in Place - Partner with families, communities and local organizations to help order adults improve their homes and their quality of life so they can flourish where they live.

Provides the following financial assistance: Economic Assistance: Provides emergency assistance to those in need. The amount of assistance granted is established in the County Guidelines and the Federal Poverty Level Guidelines. Economic assistance is not an on-going program, but is designed to address the immediate need. For all assistance granted, state statute requires that a lien is placed against the individual. Due to the attachment of a lien, the individual is encouraged to exhaust all other resources prior to making application with the county. The county will assist in making appropriate referrals and can act as an advocate on the individual's behalf. Types of assistance include: utility assistance (disconnect notice required), emergency transportation (gas voucher or but ticket), emergency shelter (one night hotel stay), and rent assistance (does not help with first months rent or rental deposit). Rent assistance is only for those individuals who have received a sheriff served 3-day eviction notice. Having the notice is required. Also, resident must have live in Davison County for at least 60 days. Medical Assistance: The county is a resource of last resort and requires that all other resources be exhausted first. Medical assistance is determined by a formula established in state statute. The individual's availability and affordability of health care coverage will be one determining factor of eligibility. All medical services must meet the criteria of medical necessity set by state statue. The county works directly with medical providers and past and current employers in assessing eligibility. The county must approve non-emergency medical procedures prior to the services being performed. The county investigates any potential third-party payee. If the county approves financial assistance, a repayment plan will be established. Types of assistance provided: medication assistance and hospital bill assistance. Funeral Assistance: Davison County Welfare provides financial assistance for funeral services and burials for qualified individuals.

Available to meet the clothing needs of children currently placed with a family through a licensing agency. This includes children in the foster care system, those placed in kinship care, those placed in safety plan placement, those placed in guardianship, and those who are adopted. Families may access The Closet any time during a season or size change. Children may receive new pajamas, socks, and underwear every six months. Families may receive all the necessities to make it through the first week of placement. During their first visit to The Closet, children will receive 7-10 days of clothing and welcome bag containing socks, underwear, pajamas, a pair of shoes, hygiene kit, new blanket, and a book. Also provides seasonal items (winter gear, Halloween costumes, and school supplies) and baby equipment to assist families who are taking in infants.

Case management, counseling, advocacy, support groups, parenting groups, and activities for children are offered and provided. Meals are provided and personal care items and clothing are available as needed at no cost to the client. Crisis intervention services include crisis phone, crisis drop-in counseling, support groups, parenting classes, 911 phones to public, safety planning, referrals to community resources, assistance with filling out protection orders, and court advocacy. Applications available to help victims of crime apply for victims compensation. Individual, child and family counseling is available to victims of abuse. A 5-day, overnight summer camp designed for abused and neglected children in foster care. When a child goes to Royal Family KIDS Camp they receive the attention and encouragement of an adult camp counselor and his/her buddy camper. In addition, each camper is also exposed to a variety of fun activities, designed for their success and to build self-esteem. For most of these children, it's the best week of the year - a special time when they can focus on having fun and enjoy being a kid.
