TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) is a temporary public assistance work program administered by the Department of Social Services in partnership with the Department of Labor and Regulation. It is designed to provide temporary assistance and build economic self-sufficiency for children and families. Eligibility and income guidelines are available by phone or by visiting the website.

Each conference seeks to serve the gaps in services in the communities they serve. Friends in need may be offered referral to other agencies, advocacy, or direct assistance which may include utility bill and rent assistance payments, clothing or pharmacy to meet basic, immediate needs.

Supports individuals in the community with developmental delays by providing residential services, employment services, day programming, and nursing.

A public health nutrition program for income-eligible infants and children up to age 5, pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women. WIC provides nutrition education to help make healthy eating choices, breastfeeding education for expectant and new mothers looking to learn more about their infant nutrition options, referrals to connect families with quality medical care and other community services, and food benefits to help families purchase nutritious groceries at participating businesses statewide.

Call the Helpline Center and you will be provided with a list of day care providers and preschool or school age programs near your preferred location. The Child Care Helpline identifies child care providers for all families, including people with non-traditional work schedules and parents of children with special needs. The City of Valley Springs consists of two parks. Legion Park is a sports complex while Cassady Park is the city park. Park amenities include a softball field, soccer field, grass volleyball court, horseshoe pits, playground, and picnic tables. Also sponsors summer transportation for swimming lessons at the Rock County Community Pool & Fitness Center as well as offer youth soccer and softball programs.

Bright Start pairs first time pregnant women with a personal nurse. The nurse assists the family in meeting goals of improved pregnancy outcomes, improved child health and development, and life, school and work goals. Families may stay enrolled until their child turns two years old. Visits are arranged on a schedule the mother/family chooses.

Provides prescription and over the counter medications, diabetes care, medication therapy management, PharmaSmart blood pressure monitoring program and vaccines. Vitamins and supplements are also available. Customers can download the Coborn's Pharmacy app to refill medications, set up reminders, and track your refill status.

Investigates child abuse and neglect cases by working with the State's Attorney, law enforcement, and community resources to determine extent of alleged child abuse or neglect. Other services include adoptions, licensing of foster homes, assessment services, case management, and intensive family services. Food giveaway, once a month. Distributes food for which income guidelines apply (this institution is an equal opportunity provider). Community meal also served on the day of the food giveaway.

Maintains parks, lake access and green space areas. Manages the City of Mitchell Urban Forest, and provides and maintains sports fields and facilities, and also provides recreational programming for all ages and abilities. The Parks and Recreation department manages the Mitchell Recreation Center and Indoor Aquatic Center, that provides fitness and recreational opportunities to the public as well as the outdoor aquatic center. The Parks and Recreation department also manages Lakeview Municipal Golf Course, an 18-hole municipal facility.

 Outpatient counseling for children, adolescents, adults, and families. Covering topics such as abuse and/or sexual abuse, anger management, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADD/ADHD), depression, emotion and behavior regulation for children, grief and loss, life transition and adjustment issues, marriage and family issues, post traumatic stress (PTSD), relational violence/abuse, self-esteem, stress management, suicide intervention/crisis stabilization, teen problems, wellness counseling, and women's issues. Offers telehealth services. Family Pathways (Family Outreach Services) counselors providing intensive counseling and support services for children in community locations such as home or school. Psychiatric Services include assessments and medication management. CARE - Continuous Assistance, Rehabilitation, and Education services for adults with severe mental illness.

Retail pharmacy and a medication disposal site. Services provided are immunizations, medical equipment/supplies, smoking cessation, and pain management. Also sells OTC medications.

Offers eye care services for individuals of all ages including diagnostic technology, eye examinations, contact lenses fitting, pediatric eye exams, InfantSEE exam, diabetic eye examinations, dry eye evaluation, emergency eye care, high risk medication monitoring, plus cataract, LASIK, and other post-operative surgical care. Eye care professionals will also help patients find eyewear that fits your face width, nose size, and eye size.

Medical assistance programs include: ​Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP): Coverage includes such things as doctor, hospital, prescription drugs, counseling, dental and glasses. Insurance for children up to age 19 at no cost to the family if the income is below certain income levels found on the Federal Poverty Guidelines. If the family income is below 140%, the children may be eligible with or without private health insurance. If there is insurance, CHIP will pay the deductibles, co-insurance, and possibly some medical services not covered by the private insurance. ​Medicaid: Health care coverage for people who qualify. To be eligible for Medicaid, individuals must fall into a coverage group and meet certain financial and non-financial eligibility criteria. Provides help for older adults and people with disabilities.

Evaluation, individual psychotherapy, family therapy, and anger management. Focus areas include depression, anxiety, stress, coping skills, relationship issues, abuse and domestic violence, and post traumatic stress (PTSD). Offering services via telehealth only.

Provides supplemental food items to those struggling with grocery expenses. Personal hygiene items may be available on a limited basis.

Services provided are Outreach Advocacy, 24-Hour Crisis Line, Women's Support Group, Women's Re-education, Men's Re-education, Emergency items, Respond to emergency 911 calls with public safety or at the hospital, and Protection Orders.

TeamMates is a school-based, one-to-one mentoring program that matches adult volunteers with students who have indicated interest in having a mentor. The focus of the mentoring relationship is for a mentor to build a positive relationship with a student as a caring adult figure to help them reach their full potential. Volunteer mentors focus on the positives in students to help them succeed. Students in TeamMates reflect improvement in attendance, behavior referrals, and academic performance.
