Areas of specialty include anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and LGBTQ+ empowerment. Sessions are tailored to meet clients personal needs in a secure, confidential, and convenient virtual environment.

The county is a resource of last resort, available only after all other resources have been exhausted. Any applicant who receives assistance will have a lien filed in their name for that amount and will be responsible for repayment of that lien to the County. Requests for assistance with:

• Rent/Deposit

Partial assistance with the current month's rent. Rental deposits are limited to the availability of grant funds.

• Mortgage

Partial assistance of one month's payment if applicant meets program qualifications.

• Utilities

Partial assistance with past due bills for water, electric, natural gas and propane usage. Additional utility charges and fees limited to the availability of grant funds.

• Transportation Costs

Assistance with bus passes or gasoline for verifiable medical appointments or new employment.

• Medical

Assistance may include emergency prescription medications, specialty physician services, hospitalizations, and insurance premiums. Services may require prior approval.

• Burial or Cremation

Pennington County residents without resources or family members to assist.

Food pantry provides groceries to individuals and families in need. Personal hygiene and grooming supplies may be available on a very limited basis.

Provides the food vouchers, prescription expense assistance (medicine only), vision expense assistance (eyeglasses and contacts), and personal care items (laundry soap, cleaning supplies, and hygiene items). Please note, prescription assistance is for those without insurance and it is for one time only! Personal care assistance is once in a calendar year.

​Individual, family, or group therapy for children, teens, and adults, who are victims or survivors or domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, or child abuse. Services offered include: EMDR; child therapy for children ages 5 and older; crisis counseling for individuals staying in shelter; on-going therapeutic counseling with a masters-level therapist. Head Start (and early head start) has a long tradition of success in helping at-risk children and their parents with school readiness, making certain that basic health needs are met and that social, emotional, and physical growth continues through life. Head Start programs follow the Early Learning Framework and monitor children's educational growth, as well as provide health and dental screenings. Head Start also supports parents through parenting classes and in setting and realizing education and job goals. They connect parents with resources to manage finances and education, in order to find the path out of poverty.

Provides audiology services to families and school districts at no cost.

Pharmacy services include immunizations, prescription refills, health screenings, and a medication disposal drop box. - Medication disposal drop-boxes for expired, unused or unwanted controlled, non-controlled, and over the counter medications, including pet medications. Items that are NOT accepted include: trash, regulated medical waste, sharps, syringes, thermometers, hazardous waste, aerosols, illicit drugs, or commercial waste.

Bright Start pairs first time pregnant women with a personal nurse. The nurse assists the family in meeting goals of improved pregnancy outcomes, improved child health and development, and life, school and work goals. Families may stay enrolled until their child turns two years old. Visits are arranged on a schedule the mother/family chooses.

Head Start is a comprehensive child development program designed to assist families and their children during the developmental years of 3-5 years of age. The program provides for health care services, educational services, and special needs services for the enrolled child and the opportunity for parents to be engaged in the decision making processes that affect their child's readiness for school. Home-based services are also offered. Call for more information.

​Specialized therapy (including occupational, speech, behavior and physical therapies) and psychology services for individuals of all ages in Sioux Falls. Therapists provide specialized treatments in assistive technology, seating and positioning, feeding and swallowing, augmentative communication, sensory integration, pediatric bowel and bladder incontinence; visual motor/perception; torticollis treatment; serial casting; behavior management; and screenings and evaluations of Autism.

Provides Public Health Nursing and Maternal Child Healthcare Services through various programs. General public health services include professional nursing and nutrition information and guidance on health, safety, and nutrition for individuals, families, and communities. Services such as influenza vaccinations and screenings for blood pressure, hearing, vision, and hemoglobin are available at a fee. Maternal Child Healthcare provides Infant Sleep Safety services, immunizations, and pregnancy support services. Infant Sleep Safety services provide education on infant safe sleep practices and link families to resources when the purchase of a crib is a financial hardship. ​Immunizations services are available for children from birth through age 18 for all universally recommended vaccinations including influenza. The Vaccines for Children's Program provides vaccines for children who are uninsured, have insurance that does not cover vaccinations, are Medicaid eligible, or are Native American or Alaskan Native. For families with insurance coverage, the Department of Health is an in-network provider for Sanford, Avera/Dakotacare, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. ​Pregnancy Support Services include regular visits with a nurse to share information about pregnancy, to provide assistance in obtaining early and on-going prenatal care from a qualified healthcare provider, and to link women to resources they may need to support a healthy pregnancy. Teaching topics may include: how your body is changing and how your baby is growing; eating healthy and gaining the right amount of weight; warning signs or symptoms that indicate you should contact your doctor; breastfeeding education and support; and caring for you and your baby after delivery. The Watertown and Sisseton locations are also able to provide car seats for all ages at no cost.

Brookings Hospital is a licensed 49-bed hospital. Services include same day surgery/operating room, emergency room, inpatient care, obstetrics, prenatal care, and ancillary services - radiology, rehab/therapy, and laboratory. Full service hospital that provides both inpatient and outpatient care.

Offers prescription delivery and pickup, immunization shots, and walk-in and virtual care options. Also offers Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) screening and treatment, chronic disease self management program, birth control and family planning, and smoking cessation. Rapid City and Sioux Falls - S. Louise Avenue location are a medication disposal site.

A school supply distribution for students in Preschool - High School that attend school in the Aberdeen area. Kindergarten - 8th Grade students will receive shoes, backpack, school supplies, and a clothing voucher to the Salvation Army Thrift Store. High School students will only receive a clothing voucher.

Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) is a supplemental food program that enables eligible households to obtain a more nutritious diet. Eligibility is determined by income, resources, and household size. Lost, stolen, or damaged EBT (SNAP) cards must call customer service to report the loss of your card. You will need to enter the card number. If you do not have the card, stay on the line for a second prompt and press 2. Reporting an EBT card as lost, stolen, or damaged will result in that card being declined.
