The Breadbasket food pantry is dedicated to feeding those in need in Moody County, South Dakota. Open to all who meet income guidelines, but no one in crisis will be turned away. TEFAP foods are available; only requirement is self-declaration that household falls within TEFAP Income Eligibility Guidelines. Occasionally offers household cleaning supplies and hygiene products.

Mobile food pantry that may be utilized once a month by families and/or individuals. A faith-based outreach serving Harrisburg and the surrounding area, affiliated with Feeding South Dakota and AmpleHarvest.org. Available services include food (offers meats, fresh fruits and vegetables, and dairy products), cleaning supplies, and personal care items.

First request for food assistance will be handled on a current needs basis following a short interview process with the coordinators of the food bank, the Pastor of Little White Church, or office secretary. An application for assistance will need to be completed providing contact information. A confidential record of usage will be maintained in the church office. Users of the Food Pantry will be provided bags of food for 3 consecutive weeks. This amount of food should help a struggling family or individual to get back on solid ground. Following the first 3 weeks, users of the Food Pantry can access usage of the Food Pantry every other week receiving 2 bags of food per person according to posted limitations. If there is a change in an individual's circumstances additional assistance may be considered at the direction of the coordinators of the food bank, the Pastor of Little White Church, or office secretary.
Food pantry available to those in need up to 1 time a month for residents of Whitewood, St. Onge, and the surrounding area.
ICAP Emergency Services helps with emergency utilities and rent for income qualified households. Must meet all requirements. Also offers food pantry vouchers to those who qualify. (Not available to those who reside in Sioux Falls).

To assist children and youth in the Pierre and Fort Pierre Public Elementary Schools who may not have enough food to eat at home by providing them with easy-to-prepare weekend meals and snacks throughout the school year when no other feeding program is available. Families must register through their school.

Rural Office of Community Services, Inc offers the following basic needs services: - Emergency Rental Assistance Must be behind (i.e.: if rent is due on the 5th, come for assistance after the 5th). Eviction notice is not required, however, there will be a form the landlord needs to complete the verify rent is past due. - Emergency Utility Assistance Must be behind AND have disconnection notice. The Contact Center helps residents of Yankton County with the following: A food pantry Utility assistance, including past due and disconnect bills for water, lights, and heating Gasoline Partial rent Representative payee system Emergency medication assistance - Children's backpacks available. Typically available in August. 2024: Collaboration with United Way. August 15, 2024 at Contact Center 4:00pm - 6:00pm. Students must be enrolled in the Yankton School District. Deadline to register for a backpack is August 9, 2024. Contact Center does not help with any kind of deposit (rent, utility, etc).

Offers limited food assistance. Minimum amount of prepackaged bags available, but also offers bread and peanut butter under extreme circumstances. Please call ahead to check availability of assistance.
A youth organization that provides a safe place for kids to go after school. Youth get to participate in a variety of activities such as homework help/tutoring, organized sports programs, Youth for Unity, Teen Center, and guided activities on character and leadership, education and career skills, and healthy living/active lifestyles. Snacks are provided to the youth. The Club is open year round with a summer program that provides a safe, fun place for children. Benefits include swimming lessons, outdoor activities, and hands-on reading, math, science activities (STEM) to keep young minds engaged out of school and lessen the summer learning gap.

CSFP program (Commodities): Provides healthy food once a month to low income elderly. A 25-28 lb. box of healthy food and 2-lbs of cheese available once a month. TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program): Provides emergency food assistance at no cost. The only requirement for TEFAP recipients is self-declaration that they fall within the TEFAP income eligibility guidelines. Food Pantry - client choice pantry: Available to those with a gross household income no more than 185% of poverty level. Participants can shop once a month. Quantity of food is based on the size of household. Mitchell Food Pantry is an equal opportunity provider.
