ICAP Children and Family Services include the following: Half Day Services: Eligible children ages 3 - 5 will receive 3 1/2 hours of center-based preschool, 4 days per week, September - May. (limited locations) EHS Home Based Services: A home visitor meets with eligible women who are pregnant and/or families with children under the age of 3 once per week for 1 1/2 hours (at a regularly scheduled time). Group socialization meetings are held twice per month. Child Development Center: Madison and Sioux Falls (ages 4 weeks - 3 years) can receive early childhood services and childcare each day year-round at ICAP's childcare center.

Youth & Family Services (YFS) Rapid City Head Start is a federally funded, no-cost, parent-focused education program that serves low-income children, ages 4 weeks-5 years, and their families. Program goals include increasing social skills and school readiness for young children while increasing the self-sufficiency for families. YFS Rapid City Head Start gives priority to families who meet the household income guidelines or have children with disabilities. Income guidelines are established by the federal government each year. All services are free of charge for participants who qualify. Head Start® is a registered trademark of HHS.

Comprehensive child development services through home-based, center-based options, includes developmental screening, written individual child development plans, weekly activities to promote child's development, and parent involvement program.

Preschool services for children ages 3 - 5, as well as home visiting program to work on child development for pregnant women and children up to age 3. Programs include Head Start, Early Head Start, home visits and parental support.

Early Head Start prenatal and children age birth to five, promotes healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women; helps enhance the development of very young children and promotes healthy family functioning; and provides early childhood education, health, nutrition, and mental health services. All services are provided in the home. Head Start Centers offer a comprehensive, no cost early learning and support program for children 3 - 5. Residents of Corson County are served through the Lemmon Head Start Center.

To provide assistance through education, training, awareness and support to enable Head Start children and families to identify and remove obstacles that keep them from attaining their fullest potential as self-assured, self-sufficient individuals and families. The Ready to Start program is for children who are eligible for kindergarten but have not had access to pre-kindergarten services or have demonstrated a need for additional services prior to their first day of school. That may include children who were on the Head Start waiting list, who tested below basic skills on their kindergarten screening, or who may not be ready developmentally for kindergarten but will enroll due to cost savings associated with childcare. Ready to Start runs four half days per week for five weeks just prior to the start of the school year. Ready to Start classrooms include 15 students with one teacher and one assistant. Because consistent attendance is critical for the children, transportation is provided.

Promotes school readiness, parent/family involvement, healthy child development, and healthy family functioning through opportunities in classroom/center activities and events, volunteering, a parent committee, and a policy council. Provides services primarily to low-income families and children with disabilities. ​
