Keeping children safe by providing child safety seats at no cost to families that meet income eligibility requirements to ensure that they are in the best child seat for their height and weight until they are at least 4'9. At 4'9, most children can safely wear a seat belt. Current South Dakota law states that any operator of any passenger vehicle transporting a child under five years of age on the streets and highways of this state shall properly secure the child in a child passenger restraint system, and that the operator of a motor vehicle must make sure that a passenger who is at least five and younger than 18 must be wearing a properly adjusted and fastened safety seat belt system. If the belts don't fit properly, the operator must find another safety belt system to secure the child (SD Law 32-37). This program distributes child seats to income eligible parents and children statewide, by assessing financial need. The communities listed may have local distribution partners. Provides an opportunity to have your infant or toddler seat checked by trained staff. Patients are given an appointment time and arrive with your seat already installed in your vehicle. Staff will check the seat and have you make any necessary changes to the installation of the seat.

Provides a helping hand and necessities once a month to families with children up to the age of 5: diapers, wipes, formula, blankets, personal hygiene products, period supplies and feminine hygiene products, and can provide a car seat one time to eligible low-income families. Mommy's Closet is a safe place for parents or other caregivers to come and problem solve issues surrounding parenting, housing, education, employment, and general finances. Foster parents, grandparents and other caregivers are eligible to receive assistance for children in their care. Mommy's Closet caseworker can provide case management and client support to families to help them: identify barriers to self-sufficiency, assist them to create success plans, provide guidance to families as they stabilize their lives, and provide referrals for additional assistance.

Moody County Emergency Medical Services provides a 24-hour Advanced Life Support Ambulance for all Moody County residents and visitors to the County. MCEMS provides stand-by services for fires, athletic events, and other community functions. The ambulance team can also provide CPR/First Aid Training, car seat checks, and other community education.
