The WPRC seeks to divert or delay those we serve from substance use and other high-risk behaviors to promote choices/behaviors resulting in lifelong mind and body wellness. The WPRC primarily focuses prevention support services to stakeholders in South Dakota's 22 westernmost counties, but often serves an even broader audience. The WPRC's services include providing education, technical assistance, training and other support to prevention service providers, youth, parents, educators, community groups, social service providers, health/wellness agencies, chemical dependency service providers, law enforcement and other community wellness stakeholders. WPRC staff can provide community education and information on a broad range of prevention topics. These topics include: Individual drugs (alcohol, nicotine, vaping, marijuana, methamphetamine, fentanyl, etc.) Trends in drug use Over the counter drug misuse The science of chemical dependence (brain and body) Risky behavior marketing 988/211 Helpline usage The WPRC maintains a traditional library of books and other media relating to prevention, health and wellness. Provides ongoing training and technical assistance to adults who are involved in day-to-day care of young children and offers services to support parents, child care providers, teachers and others involved in early care and education of children birth -12 years of age. Services include: Face-to-face and online early childhood education on issues such as child development, age appropriate activities, effective guidance, program management, and CPR/First Aid certification. Resource lending libraries with information on social emotional observations, recommendations and guidance for children using difficult behaviors. Child Care referral for parents looking for licensed and registered child care providers. Host site for the South Dakota Child Safety Seat Program Coordinates the Starting Strong Preschool scholarship program, the Responsive Parenting class, Child Development Associate credentialing and other programs.

Strives to ensure that all learners - especially English Language Learners (ELL), economically disadvantaged learners and minority students - have the supports they need to achieve academic, career, and life goals. Services include parent/family training, teacher/administrator training/PD, tip sheets/printed materials, learning packets/books, webinars, videos, newsletter(s), toolkits and resources to support Family Engagement, and family friendly walk-throughs.

Provides the following services: workforce development training, basic adult education, computer skills training, CPR certification, English language classes, citizenship preparation, career development, job readiness preparation and test proctoring (in central SD), training and support for child care providers, computer lab, free wi-fi, parenting classes, online GED preparation classes, test proctoring, corporate training, employment training, information & referral for immigrants & refugees, child care resource & referral agency (CCR&R), training and technical assistance for child care providers, Barton tutoring for individuals with dyslexia, and tutoring services.
