This office is the keeper of County records and acts as a bookkeeper of County business. The Auditor is responsible for County Commissioner meetings including scheduling, agenda, business follow-up, Preparing the County's budget, Audit bills or other claims against the County and prepare the warrants in payment of these bills, Figuring the mil levy, and Head election officer of the County. Also deals with Voter Registration and Absentee Voting. The Auditor's Office also handles requests for one-time economic assistance that may include Rent, Utility for current bills, May be available for water, lights, heating, Medical, hospitalization, and burial assistance requires pre-approval if not for emergency services. All other resources must have been exhausted first. Assistance does require payback and county lien is filed until paid in full.

Bone Marrow Transplant Support Group - For individuals that have gone through or may be undergoing a transplant. Cancer Caregiver Support Program - Open to all caregivers who care for loved one with any type of cancer diagnosis. Cooperative Parenting and Divorce - Parents can learn the skills necessary to minimize difficulties for their children as their roles change from spouses to co-parents. The group is for divorcing parents who have children. Cost is $130.00 for 8 week course or (2) 4 week courses; includes the cost of workbook. Diabetes Support Group - Covers topics and support related to diabetes. Open to the patient and their family/significant other Infant Loss Support Group - 6 week series support group for families who are grieving the death of a child through miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death. Childbirth (in person or online class), caring for a newborn, breastfeeding, multiple blessings classes Weight Loss Support Group - For people who have had any weight loss procedure or are considering one (both online and in person)

The Club serves kids ages 5 - 18 with programs such as homework help, healthy decision making, leadership development and civic engagement. The Club focuses on 3 priority outcomes - Academic Success, Good Character and Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles. Also operates the after school programs at Stanley County Gold and St. Joseph's Catholic School during the school year.

Residential behavioral/group care program for abused and neglected youth offers youth 24-hour supervision. Services offered include individual therapy, treatment planning, mental health evaluation, group therapy, collaboration with parents/guardians/ foster parents, referral agency, schools or other provider, and educational services provided in program.

Pharmacy services include immunizations, prescription refills, health screenings, and a medication disposal drop box. - Medication disposal drop-boxes for expired, unused or unwanted controlled, non-controlled, and over the counter medications, including pet medications. Items that are NOT accepted include: trash, regulated medical waste, sharps, syringes, thermometers, hazardous waste, aerosols, illicit drugs, or commercial waste.

Programs and services include a domestic violence shelter, a community crisis line with a toll free number, crisis intervention, and telephone or face-to-face crisis counseling and advocacy. Victim services include: criminal and support services, transportation, emergency financial assistance, referrals and assistance with housing/social services/legal services/other community resources, legal advocacy, and counseling referrals. Community education is available to schools, civic groups, or interested community members on topics of preventing domestic violence, dating violence, and sexual assault.

Horizon Health - Fort Thompson is full-service medical clinic offering the following services - preventative screenings, acute care, chronic care management, well child visits, men's and women's health, immunizations, family planning, lab/x-ray, patient education, care management, DOT exams, after-hours access to care, and Certified Application Counselors for the Health Insurance Marketplace. For families with insurance coverage, the Department of Health is an in-network provider for Sanford, Avera/Dakotacare, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. ​Pregnancy Support Services include regular visits with a nurse to share information about pregnancy, to provide assistance in obtaining early and on-going prenatal care from a qualified healthcare provider, and to link women to resources they may need to support a healthy pregnancy. Teaching topics may include: how your body is changing and how your baby is growing; eating healthy and gaining the right amount of weight; warning signs or symptoms that indicate you should contact your doctor; breastfeeding education and support; and caring for you and your baby after delivery. The Watertown and Sisseton locations are also able to provide car seats for all ages at no cost.

Specialties in eating disorders, depression, anxiety, women's issues, life changes and adjustments, and medical nutrition therapy.

A 10-week intensive counseling program for adoptive and foster families with children ages 5-12. Program activities include caregiver education, kids club, and family therapy. Based on Trust Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI) principles, HALO program was created by Cindy Lee at HALO Project and has shown amazing results for this population.

Welfare services include medical assistance, utilities assistance for disconnect notices on heating bills, and burial/funeral assistance. All assistance is based on eligibility guidelines. All applicants are required by law to repay the county for assistance given, per SDCL 28-14. County is payer of last resort after all other resources have been utilized.

The West River Area Health Education Center is committed to expanding the healthcare workforce in South Dakota, as well as offering creative, hands-on and innovative health career curriculums for pre-college level students.

6-week class for parents with children ages birth - 3 years old. Parents will learn about topics such as social-emotional growth, early brain development, temperament, and guidance.

Individual, couples, children, and family counseling. Staff tailors treatment to support growth and healing. Treatment specializations include depression, anxiety, traumatic experiences/abuse, post traumatic stress (PTSD), attachment challenges, parenting support, grief and loss, work and career issues, stress management, and conflict resolution. Offers BrainPaint neurofeedback, hypnosis, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), parenting group, nurturing parenting program, play therapy, adoption, parent/child relationship, foster parent support, and neuropsychological evaluation for attention, executive functioning, and memory. Works with clients to determine what is best for their situation regarding telehealth.

Provides food pantry services.

Provides in-home services including the following: relief and respite care, companionship, personal hygiene and grooming, dressing, bathing, meal prep, assistance with light exercising, light housekeeping, laundry, errand services, appointment escorts, shopping assistance, pet care, medication reminders, and some nursing services.

Rapid City utility customers can apply for a reduction of their monthly utility charges through the Utility Rate Relief Program. The program is designed to lower the monthly utility expense for senior citizens and people with disabilities. If qualified, the rates charged for all utility services billed to the applicant will be reduced by 25 percent for a period of two years or until the renewal date established by the Public Works Director. Applications are accepted at any time, but renewal requests must be received by April 30 of odd numbered years for participants to remain on the program.

Medical assistance programs include: ​Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP): Coverage includes such things as doctor, hospital, prescription drugs, counseling, dental and glasses. Insurance for children up to age 19 at no cost to the family if the income is below certain income levels found on the Federal Poverty Guidelines. If the family income is below 140%, the children may be eligible with or without private health insurance. If there is insurance, CHIP will pay the deductibles, co-insurance, and possibly some medical services not covered by the private insurance. ​Medicaid: Health care coverage for people who qualify. To be eligible for Medicaid, individuals must fall into a coverage group and meet certain financial and non-financial eligibility criteria. Provides help for older adults and people with disabilities.

Providing free breakfast for children 18 years old or younger. Meals on Wheels Western South Dakota will fund breakfast at no charge for seniors (60+) accompanying their grandchildren. Carroll Institute Project Awareness Prevention Program contracts with area school districts to provide evidence-based prevention programming in the classroom K-12th grade by counselors trained in working with adolescents with varying backgrounds in prevention, school counseling, and mental health counseling. Provides assessments and screening to students with referral services to appropriate levels of care. Diversion Program available for young adults ages 18-20 with no substance use diagnosis outside of tobacco use.
