General public health services include professional nursing and nutrition information and guidance on health, safety, and nutrition for individuals, families, and communities. Services such as influenza vaccinations and screenings for blood pressure, hearing, vision, and hemoglobin are available at a fee. Maternal Child Healthcare provides Infant Sleep Safety services, immunizations, and pregnancy support services. Infant Sleep Safety services provide education on infant safe sleep practices and link families to resources when the purchase of a crib is a financial hardship. ​Immunizations services are available for children from birth through age 18 for all universally recommended vaccinations including influenza. Teaching topics may include: how your body is changing and how your baby is growing; eating healthy and gaining the right amount of weight; warning signs or symptoms that indicate you should contact your doctor; breastfeeding education and support; and caring for you and your baby after delivery. The Watertown and Sisseton locations are also able to provide car seats for all ages at no cost.

Offers practical classes on topics such as finances, parenting, Christianity, nutrition, and marriage. These classes will provide incentives for people when homework is completed and life goals are achieved. Each quarter's class is at a different partnering church. Life INC classes are held in the evening and provide a free meal as well as a free children's ministry/care.

Other services include adoptions, licensing of foster homes, assessment services, case management, and intensive family services. Common Sense Parenting Class: Classes are interactive and include videotaped examples to watch, rather than a lecture format. Topics cover a wide range of mental health issues from alcoholism and the family to stress management. SMILE: Education program for separating and divorcing parents with children under the age of 18, designed to inform parents how to better understand the effects of divorce; assist parents to understand the needs of their children; help parents learn what they can do to create a nurturing and safe environment so their children can recover and feel good about themselves; inform parents how to prevent destructive game playing that is common among divorce; help parents gain problem solving skills. Veterans Stand Down event provides education and information about Veteran services and benefits to Veterans and their families in the West River region. The event also includes haircuts, clothing, hygiene products, employment services, legal assistance, housing referrals, eye screening/reading glasses, readjustment counseling. A free meal is served at all locations.

Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) is a supplemental food program that enables eligible households to obtain a more nutritious diet. Eligibility is determined by income, resources, and household size. Lost, stolen, or damaged EBT (SNAP) cards must call customer service to report the loss of your card. You will need to enter the card number. If you do not have the card, stay on the line for a second prompt and press 2. Reporting an EBT card as lost, stolen, or damaged will result in that card being declined.

After-school care for boys and girls ages 10 - 18 meeting intensive outpatient guidelines for addiction recovery treatment. Services offered include drug and alcohol treatment needs assessment, intensive outpatient group program, Continued Care group program, Individual therapy, and the Learning Above and Beyond (LAB) afterschool prevention based program. ​Telehealth options available.

A 24-hour residential and psychiatric treatment center serving emotionally disturbed and learning disabled children between the ages of 4-14. This program also provides special education services and intensive therapy for children and families who are experiencing difficulty at home, in school, or in the community. Services include day school and residential programs, evaluation services, family supportive services, consultation and training services. Madsen House is designed to provide comprehensive psychiatric diagnosis and assessments, as well as short-term treatment for children ages 4-14 with emotional and behavioral problems. Madsen House Intensive Unit is an eight-bed unit for children ages 4-14 who have severe or chronic emotional and behavioral disorders. Treatment includes psychiatric care, adaptive management, individual, group and family therapy and academic programming. Childcare teams consist of three counselors and one team coordinator, creating a ratio of one staff for every two children.

Provides quality home health care to residents of the Sioux Empire, Vermillion, and Chamberlain communities. Services offered include care for heart conditions, complex wound care, diabetes education and assessment, disease and symptom management, education on a newly diagnosed medical condition, home health aide, home infusion therapy education, home safety education, medication education, occupational therapy, pain management, pediatric care, physical therapy, postsurgical care, skilled nursing, speech therapy, and rehabilitation therapy while recovering from an orthopedic condition or hospital stay. They are most appropriate for individuals recently discharged from the hospital and are not fully recovered such as after surgery or new diagnosis, individuals recently diagnosed with an illness and needing education, and individuals who have a chronic condition that needs frequent clinical assessment such as diabetes, kidney, stroke, heart or lung disease.

Provides free resources for families that have a child in the Sioux Falls School District during the school year. Services include food pantry, hygiene items, winter gear, socks and underwear, access to computer/internet, space to connect with social worker for assistance, and birthday closet. The Child Advocacy Center provides expert forensic interviews and medical examinations of children who are alleged victims of sexual and/or physical abuse or witnesses to violence. This program is housed at Black Hills Pediatrics and Neonatology, and operates in partnership with Rapid City Regional Hospital and Children's Home Society. The primary goal of the Child Advocacy Center is to reduce a child's trauma by eliminating repeated interviews and medical examinations by multiple investigative parties. The Center provides one coordinated interview and a physical exam, and provides superior evidence in child abuse investigations. The interview process may be observed on closed-circuit television by the referring social worker and law enforcement officer. The Child Advocacy Center also provides comprehensive training in Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) , Enough Abuse Campaign, Trauma Informed Care/Response, Mandatory Reporting/handling child abuse disclosures, and Multidisciplinary Child Abuse Investigations. Trainings are open to the entire state and are detailed to the requesting audience. Trainings, based on topics, are appropriate for caregivers, system professionals, and community members. CHS partners with the Center of Prevention of Child Maltreatment and state agencies to host, support, and provide trainer support in the ACEs and EnoughAbuse curriculums.

Must reach out to other non-profit organizations in town prior to reaching out. Provides limited emergency financial assistance as a last resort for those considered indigent and are residents of Brookings County. The office may assist if an individual is behind on rent or utilities, or needs prescription medications that insurance doesn't cover, emergency medical expenses, county burials and funerals. They also help with vision referrals to the Lions Club. Individuals must reside in Brookings County to be eligible for services. Assistance is not free, any assistance granted will be liened by Brookings County and will be required to pay back.

Services provided by this office are a last resort. If eligibility criteria are met, assistance may include burial assistance, medical expense assistance, utility assistance, and rent assistance.

This emergency shelter is located in the fenced-in area beside the old jail in Pine Ridge. Individuals who are willing to be sober can stay in the military tents.

Paula Lain Counseling (PLC) is a female-led counseling service that offers sessions for individuals, families, couples, and adolescents, with a particular emphasis on animal-assisted therapy.
