TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) is a temporary public assistance work program administered by the Department of Social Services in partnership with the Department of Labor and Regulation. It is designed to provide temporary assistance and build economic self-sufficiency for children and families. Eligibility and income guidelines are available by phone or by visiting the website.

Non-profit outreach ministry whose mission is to provide a mid-day meal for working adults in the city of Sioux Falls. Meals are distributed at The Banquet and The Banquet West.

Offers free food to anyone 18 years of age or older. There is no restriction on who can come, or how many times you can come. A pre-packaged box of food in a drive thru style giveaway. Guests will stay in their vehicles and will follow a predetermined route via the north entrance of the fairgrounds off of Madison Street. Pet food also now available, supply is limited. Food (boxed) or pet food delivery available for those who cannot otherwise get to the giveaway on a limited basis. ​ An incentive and education based program for limited income pregnant teens, women and families. The goal is to promote healthier pregnancies, healthier babies and an overall healthier community. Those who qualify and participate in the programs may earn teddy credits which can be exchanged for new baby items, such as baby clothes, blankets, bottles, highchairs and strollers. Volunteers work hands-on with the women enrolled in assisting them with registration, counting and spending their teddy credits or points, picking out new baby items and possibly carrying incentive items to their cars.

The student food cupboard is a campus resource that provides free food and essential supplies to students experiencing food insecurity, ensuring they have access to nutritious meals and can focus on their education without the added stress of hunger.

Head Start is a comprehensive child development program designed to assist families and their children during the developmental years of 3-5 years of age. The program provides for health care services, educational services, and special needs services for the enrolled child and the opportunity for parents to be engaged in the decision making processes that affect their child's readiness for school. Beds are available to kids, 3-17 that don't have a bed. The organization does not replace worn beds, but distributes to those who don't have a bed. After an application is submitted, the family will receive a call from a local application director. When all paperwork and information is complete a delivery time will be scheduled.

Income eligible homeowners may receive assistance from Habitat and their volunteers on projects including limited in-home repairs for safety modifications including installing non-skid strips in bathtub or stairs, grab bars and handrails; exterior painting; minor exterior home repairs and weatherization.

A state association of family and group family child care professionals and individuals from across South Dakota who are dedicated to supporting the profession of family child care and promoting high quality care for all children through professional development activities, education, and advocacy.

Mental Health services include individual, couples and family counseling, 24-hour QMHP services, psychiatric evaluations and medication management, school consultations, and employee assistance programs (EAP). Alcohol and Drug Program treatment approach is based on the 12-step program of Alcoholics Anonymous and reality therapy. Services offered include individual counseling, chemical assessments, DUI education program, outpatient treatment, prevention education program, and a relapse prevention group. Case Management and IMPACT Programs, designed to help clients with severe and persistent mental illness, services include case management and continued care, medication management with psychiatrist, crisis intervention assistance, and psychiatric rehabilitation which seeks to provide program services that assist clients in developing skills and manage resources needed to allow them to be successful in the community. A client centered, client directed form of treatment, the program consists of services designed to restore the disabled person to a level of functioning which permits a useful, meaningful life.

The Auditor is the keeper of County records and acts as a bookkeeper of County business. Notary Public services available. Some fees may apply. Welfare services include medical assistance, utilities assistance for disconnect notices on heating bills, and burial/funeral assistance. All assistance is based on eligibility guidelines. All applicants are required by law to repay the county for assistance given, per SDCL 28-14. County is payer of last resort after all other resources have been utilized.

Urgent care offering services to the public such as allergy symptoms, bug bites, headache and migraines, common infections, foreign object removal, cold and flu symptoms, sexual transmitted infections (STI), lab testing, and DOT, drug screening and worker's comp.

A resource for renters, potential homeowners, lenders, landlords and other housing professionals to utilize to understand their rights and responsibilities. The ombudsman will answer questions and act as a mediator to help find an answer that both parties can accept. The ombudsman will also coordinate awareness of fair housing statewide. The ombudsman will listen to both sides of the story and work to resolve the dispute. If the dispute is unresolved and potentially involves housing discrimination, the ombudsman will assist in completing a complaint form with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). A resource for people who have questions related to having a companion animals - typically in a rental situation where the landlord does not allow pets.

Provides Public Health Nursing and Maternal Child Healthcare Services through various programs. General public health services include professional nursing and nutrition information and guidance on health, safety, and nutrition for individuals, families, and communities. Services such as influenza vaccinations and screenings for blood pressure, hearing, vision, and hemoglobin are available at a fee. Maternal Child Healthcare provides Infant Sleep Safety services, immunizations, and pregnancy support services. Infant Sleep Safety services provide education on infant safe sleep practices and link families to resources when the purchase of a crib is a financial hardship. ​Immunizations services are available for children from birth through age 18 for all universally recommended vaccinations including influenza. The Vaccines for Children's Program provides vaccines for children who are uninsured, have insurance that does not cover vaccinations, are Medicaid eligible, or are Native American or Alaskan Native. For families with insurance coverage, the Department of Health is an in-network provider for Sanford, Avera/Dakotacare, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. ​Pregnancy Support Services include regular visits with a nurse to share information about pregnancy, to provide assistance in obtaining early and on-going prenatal care from a qualified healthcare provider, and to link women to resources they may need to support a healthy pregnancy. Teaching topics may include: how your body is changing and how your baby is growing; eating healthy and gaining the right amount of weight; warning signs or symptoms that indicate you should contact your doctor; breastfeeding education and support; and caring for you and your baby after delivery. The Watertown and Sisseton locations are also able to provide car seats for all ages at no cost.

Assistance is for a one-time emergency situation only, not on a yearly basis. Clients must have tried seeking assistance from Minnehaha or Lincoln County Human Services prior to a caseworker visit. Pharmacy services include immunizations, prescription refills, health screenings, and a medication disposal drop box. - Medication disposal drop-boxes for expired, unused or unwanted controlled, non-controlled, and over the counter medications, including pet medications. Items that are NOT accepted include: trash, regulated medical waste, sharps, syringes, thermometers, hazardous waste, aerosols, illicit drugs, or commercial waste.

Thrift store is open to the public. Provides clothing and houseware vouchers for all members of households. Houseware vouchers are offered once a year and clothing vouchers are offered every six months.
