For families with insurance coverage, the Department of Health is an in-network provider for Sanford, Avera/Dakotacare, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. ​Pregnancy Support Services include regular visits with a nurse to share information about pregnancy, to provide assistance in obtaining early and on-going prenatal care from a qualified healthcare provider, and to link women to resources they may need to support a healthy pregnancy. Teaching topics may include: how your body is changing and how your baby is growing; eating healthy and gaining the right amount of weight; warning signs or symptoms that indicate you should contact your doctor; breastfeeding education and support; and caring for you and your baby after delivery. The Watertown and Sisseton locations are also able to provide car seats for all ages at no cost.

Locates children that are new born to 5 years of age who are suspected of having developmental delays or mental and/or physical disabilities in order to provide early intervention services. Services include screening children for developmental delays, referring children requiring further evaluation to the appropriate agencies, and providing parents with training, educational materials, and monetary and transportation assistance. This program also hosts parent support group meetings, workshops, and health fairs.

Offers a variety of training opportunities for parents, babysitters, and child care centers/providers. Training and classes include personalized Childcare Provider Training, Babysitting Classes for Tweens aged 10-13, and Home Alone Class for children ages 9-13. The Temperament Project can help better understand a child and can help choose appropriate techniques that fit a child's unique approach to life. Keeping children safe by providing child safety seats at no cost to families that meet income eligibility requirements to ensure that they are in the best child seat for their height and weight until they are at least 4'9. At 4'9, most children can safely wear a seat belt. Current South Dakota law states that any operator of any passenger vehicle transporting a child under five years of age on the streets and highways of this state shall properly secure the child in a child passenger restraint system, and that the operator of a motor vehicle must make sure that a passenger who is at least five and younger than 18 must be wearing a properly adjusted and fastened safety seat belt system. If the belts don't fit properly, the operator must find another safety belt system to secure the child (SD Law 32-37). This program distributes child seats to income eligible parents and children statewide, by assessing financial need. The communities listed may have local distribution partners. Butte County Auditor is considered the county welfare office and assists with indigent county burials, involuntary mental committals, utility payment assistance, and medical indigent claims. As a last resort/dire situation, sometimes this office is able to help with rent. For assistance, an application is required to be filled out in its entirety and there is a repayment plan. Each case is diligently researched to make certain any and all options may have been exhausted first.

Must have a referral from a medical provider prior to evaluation and treatment depending on insurance requirements.
