A non-profit thrift store which offers a wide variety of merchandise including clothing for the whole family, shoes, coats, appliances, vintage items, books, jewelry, toys/games, lamps, dishes, and more!

A volunteer based organization that collects and processes clothing and household goods for placement in a free-cycling setting resembling a retail store. All items are free; if someone can make a monetary donation, there is a box for that, but it is not required. There are no restrictions as to who may acquire goods from the store as its primary goal is to relieve the stigma of poverty and conserve the earth through recycling. Donations for the thrift store are accepted, except for mattresses or large furniture items such as appliances and large tables.

Encore Family Store (Lake County) has clothing and other household goods for persons who wish to use the store's services. If an income-eligible person or family cannot afford to purchase the clothing, the Community Service Worker in that county can provide a voucher that allows the person or family to get the clothing at no charge.

Financial Assistance: Utility Assistance for past due and disconnection notices including water, lights, and heating. To be screened for utility assistance or for information about current eligibility guidelines, please call 605-342-0982. Non-Financial Assistance Programs: Food Pantry: For those needing assistance with food. Clothing Vouchers: For those needing assistance for clothing. Assistance may only be given 1 time every 6 months. Household Boxes: For those needing assistance with items used to cook and eat a meal. A lease must be shown to the caseworker in order to receive assistance. Assistance is limited according to what is available at the time. Pathway of Hope: Program for eligible families. Long term case management program to help families move beyond crisis into stability and becoming self-sufficient. Families will be required to meet with a caseworker to design a plan to meet goals, needs and objectives (ex. goal setting, assistance getting healthcare, educational opportunities, etc).

Those in need can find new and gently used items for a minimal cost. The store offers everything from furniture, household, and crafts items to clothing for men, women and children. Earnings from the store are used to directly assist those in need by helping pay rent, utilities, food, clothing, household, transportation for work and medical, prescriptions, and other necessities.

Gently used items for sale at bargain prices available to anyone. Clothing and household vouchers available for low income families through the Salvation Army Social Services Center.

Helping people identify long term situations that lead to assistance requests and to walk along side them as they bridge out of those situations. Provides assistance for those in the Whitewood area only (cannot assist individuals from Spearfish or other areas). Services provided might include utility payments on a case by case basis, clothing, food, gas, financial education, training and education assistance, and micro-loans (0% interest) for rent deposit; amount must be repaid. Items are made available to anyone in Custer County at no charge. In case of emergencies/crisis the Storehouse is opened to fill specific needs (i.e. family evacuated from burned home). The items available vary based on donations received (household items and clothing).
