The South Dakota Birth to Three Early Intervention Program serves children from birth to 36 months with developmental delays or disabilities and their families. Provides heart screenings for heart or cardiac patients of all ages living in northeastern South Dakota. Also funds heart screenings for youth in Northeastern South Dakota. They do not need to be athletes to be screened. The screening will include a limited echo (ultrasound of the heart), EKG and some blood work. A pediatric cardiologist will be reading the tests and will notify the family if any further workup is needed.

Provides appropriate diagnoses of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) with technical assistance to aid with the implementation of clinic recommendations. The diagnosis will allow professionals and families to develop strategies to improve the educational and health outcomes for the person with FASD.

Serving families of children with disabilities and special health needs for 40 years; services include individual assistance, connection to programs at the local, state and national level, and helps parents and schools navigate the special education process. Staff also deliver workshops in-person for groups upon request. Willing to work with parents and professionals to develop and deliver training based on the needs of the group. Workshops/presentations are delivered at no cost to parents. A nominal fee structure is in place for delivery to professional groups.

Avera St. Mary's Central South Dakota Child Assessment Center's mission is to provide a strong multidisciplinary, cooperative team approach in order to better serve children who are victims of child abuse. Services are provided regardless of ability to pay.

Program provides assessments 24-hours a day for mental health problems to determine an appropriate level of care.

Services are available for boys and girls, ages 4-14 years old, who exhibit emotional disorders and/or behavioral problems. The average length of diagnostic assessment period is thirty days. The average length of stay for residential treatment is twelve to fourteen months. The Special Education School Program specializes in the education and treatment of children with emotional and behavioral disorders. Initial assessment includes psychiatric evaluation, physical exam, nursing assessment, educational testing, family/social assessment, trauma assessment, and speech/language screening.

COVID Testing Option: ​Oyate Health Center Urgent Care 3200 Canyon Lake Drive 7:00am - 7:00pm (MT), 7 days a week Closed on Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. Oyate Health Center provides primary medical care, outpatient clinic, and urgent care. Additional outpatient services that are provided on site include optometry, pharmacy (Prescription Drug Take Back Site, blue drop-box in pharmacy), laboratory, radiology, dental, physical therapy, podiatry, and social services. Oyate Health Center has 2 sweat lodges that are by sign in only. Call for details. Oyate Health Center provides direct health services to Native Americans and also provide contract health care services and referrals to those that are eligible within IHS requirements. This means that if a patient is enrolled in a federally recognized tribe or can prove lineage of descent of an enrolled tribal member; the patient may receive direct care services at Oyate Health Center. Prescription Assistance - Any Native American enrolled in a federally recognized tribe can receive prescription expense assistance at any I.H.S. facility.

Bright Start is a community-based, voluntary program which implements the evidence based Nurse Family Partnership model to provide nurse home visitation services to families during pregnancy, after delivery and may continue until the child's second birthday. Services include prenatal, maternal and infant/child health assessments and education; and health, safety and nutrition education.
