The City of Lennox and Parks & Recreation Advisory Board offers a wide variety of recreational programs for youth and adults throughout the summer months. The Department of Human Services Guardianship Program provides guardianship and/or conservatorship services as a last resort to qualified individuals age 18 or older with an intellectual or developmental disability as defined in SDCL 27B-1-18 or qualified individuals in the Long Terms Services and Supports program. The South Dakota Department of Human Services may be appointed as a guardian, a conservator, or both, for adults with developmental disabilities under its care or to whom it is providing services or financial assistance, but only if there is no individual, nonprofit corporation, bank or trust company, or other public agency that is qualified to serve, as defined in SDCL 29A-5-110, or qualified individuals in the Long Terms Services and Supports program. The department also provides financial assistance for qualified individuals who are willing and qualified to serve as a guardian and/or conservator of up to $1,500.00 for the establishment of a guardianship or conservatorship through the Guardianship Establishment Program. Limited amount of funds for this program are available each year on a first come first served basis for qualified individuals.

Provides emergency assistance for those in either Minnehaha/Lincoln County with rent and deposits, Utility bills: Must have a disconnect notice for water, lights, or heating; Food and non-food items, Burial: Clients should begin by choosing a funeral home and meet with them prior to applying for assistance through Minnehaha County. Also provides transportation assistance, dental care, medical care (hospitalization) and Medications. Minnehaha County residents can also receive assistance with Shelter, Gasoline or bus ticket for transients/nonresidents stranded here and needing to get home. Out of town travel assistance is not offered to MC residents. Identification and or birth certificate (if needed for the purposes of obtaining employment/housing). The majority of assistance provided is in the form of a no-interest loan for which a lien is created. The client does not receive any bill from County but is expected to repay the debt, starting in a time frame created by the caseworker. Applicants can choose to walk-in to the office or receive a phone call to complete an interview. Those applying for transportation, medications or ID/BC assistance should come into the office to apply.

Some sites provide Department of Transportation physicals. Nurse triage available for after-hours calls. Situation will be assessed by a registered nurse with further guidance provided. Strives to meet the needs of all patients, including the underinsured and underserved and offers services at a reduced rate to those who qualify.

Keeping children safe by providing child safety seats at no cost to families that meet income eligibility requirements to ensure that they are in the best child seat for their height and weight until they are at least 4'9. At 4'9, most children can safely wear a seat belt. Current South Dakota law states that any operator of any passenger vehicle transporting a child under five years of age on the streets and highways of this state shall properly secure the child in a child passenger restraint system, and that the operator of a motor vehicle must make sure that a passenger who is at least five and younger than 18 must be wearing a properly adjusted and fastened safety seat belt system. If the belts don't fit properly, the operator must find another safety belt system to secure the child (SD Law 32-37). This program distributes child seats to income eligible parents and children statewide, by assessing financial need. The communities listed may have local distribution partners. Youth & Family Services (YFS) Rapid City Head Start is a federally funded, no-cost, parent-focused education program that serves low-income children, ages 4 weeks-5 years, and their families. Program goals include increasing social skills and school readiness for young children while increasing the self-sufficiency for families. YFS Rapid City Head Start gives priority to families who meet the household income guidelines or have children with disabilities.
