Services include, but are not limited to the following areas: Service to veterans Veterans service officer - who is able to assist in obtaining benefits Advocacy programs for veterans and people with disabilities Legislation Peer counseling - for persons with physical disabilities and especially new spinal cord injuries and multiple sclerosis. Sports and recreational activities - Assists veterans that have physical disabilities with getting involved in sports activities such as bowling, lacrosse, boccia ball, fishing, skiing, trap shooting, and hunting. Also open to individuals with disabilities. Equipment lending Technical assistance on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Provides care to people of all sexes and gender identities on a sliding fee scale. Confidential birth control services including birth control pills and injections (donations only or sliding scale charge). Physical exams, pap-tests, exams/testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (male and female patients including teens), information about all forms of birth control, infertility information and referral, pregnancy diagnosis and referrals.

Food pantry and clothing assistance available up to 1 time per month for those in need.

Investigates child abuse and neglect cases by working with the State's Attorney, law enforcement, and community resources to determine extent of alleged child abuse or neglect. Other services include adoptions, licensing of foster homes, assessment services, case management, and intensive family services. Any individual who has had a brain injury is welcome to attend. The support group is also available for family members. Brain injuries can be obtained from accidents, falls, multiple concussions, tumors, stokes, lack of oxygen, epilepsy and Parkinson's, to name a few. The brain injury may be a recent injury or one that has been acquired for many years.

Offers a wide range of services for families with loved ones to remain in their homes. These include Pediatrics - Private Duty Nursing, Home Health, Medical Solutions - Enteral Nutrition and Medical Supplies.

Provides emergency assistance for those in either Minnehaha/Lincoln County with rent and deposits, Utility bills: Must have a disconnect notice for water, lights, or heating; Food and non-food items, Burial: Clients should begin by choosing a funeral home and meet with them prior to applying for assistance through Minnehaha County. Also provides transportation assistance, dental care, medical care (hospitalization) and Medications. Minnehaha County residents can also receive assistance with Shelter, Gasoline or bus ticket for transients/nonresidents stranded here and needing to get home. Out of town travel assistance is not offered to MC residents. Identification and or birth certificate (if needed for the purposes of obtaining employment/housing). The majority of assistance provided is in the form of a no-interest loan for which a lien is created. The client does not receive any bill from County but is expected to repay the debt, starting in a time frame created by the caseworker. Applicants can choose to walk-in to the office or receive a phone call to complete an interview. Those applying for transportation, medications or ID/BC assistance should come into the office to apply.

Specializing in comprehensive psychiatric medication management. Provides ADHD treatment, adult, child and adolescent psychiatry and counseling.

Medical assistance programs include: ​Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP): Coverage includes such things as doctor, hospital, prescription drugs, counseling, dental and glasses. Insurance for children up to age 19 at no cost to the family if the income is below certain income levels found on the Federal Poverty Guidelines. If the family income is below 140%, the children may be eligible with or without private health insurance. If there is insurance, CHIP will pay the deductibles, co-insurance, and possibly some medical services not covered by the private insurance. ​Medicaid: Health care coverage for people who qualify. To be eligible for Medicaid, individuals must fall into a coverage group and meet certain financial and non-financial eligibility criteria. Provides help for older adults and people with disabilities.

A voluntary program serving mothers ages 18-24 who have used stimulants or opioids within the past year and are either currently parenting or working toward reunification with children ages 0-12. The program team consists of a case manager/women's advocate and a peer support specialist. The case manager provides direct support to enrolled families, while the peer support specialist offers recovery-focused support to participating mothers.

Meal service is open to the general public daily, including holidays.

Offers eye care services for individuals of all ages including diagnostic technology, eye examinations, contact lenses fitting, pediatric eye exams, InfantSEE exam, diabetic eye examinations, dry eye evaluation, emergency eye care, high risk medication monitoring, plus cataract, LASIK, and other post-operative surgical care. Eye care professionals will also help patients find eyewear that fits your face width, nose size, and eye size.

Home Health can help patients make a good transition from hospital to home, or receive the help and care they need at home. Services include physical and occupational therapy, medication management, wound care, IVs and central lines, personal care, light housekeeping and meal preparation.

Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) is a supplemental food program that enables eligible households to obtain a more nutritious diet. Eligibility is determined by income, resources, and household size. Lost, stolen, or damaged EBT (SNAP) cards must call customer service to report the loss of your card. You will need to enter the card number. If you do not have the card, stay on the line for a second prompt and press 2. Reporting an EBT card as lost, stolen, or damaged will result in that card being declined.

Serves kids ages 5 - 18 with programs such as homework help, healthy decision making, leadership development and civic engagement. Focuses on 3 priority outcomes - Academic Success, Good Character and Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles. Also operates the after school programs at Stanley County Gold and St. Joseph's Catholic School during the school year.

CSFP program (Commodities): Provides healthy food once a month to low income elderly. A 25-28 lb. box of healthy food and 2-lbs of cheese available once a month. TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program): Provides emergency food assistance at no cost. The only requirement for TEFAP recipients is self-declaration that they fall within the TEFAP income eligibility guidelines. Food Pantry - client choice pantry: Available to those with a gross household income no more than 185% of poverty level. Participants can shop once a month. Quantity of food is based on the size of household. Mitchell Food Pantry is an equal opportunity provider.
