Students can discuss their needs in confidence with any school staff member OR any school staff member can recognize a student's needs they would like to address. If the school does not currently have the needed items, the school will reach out to the MSD Caring Closet and volunteers will do their best to help fulfill the student's needs. Student's use and/or request of items is completely confidential.

Love Inc is not income based, rather they are need based. If Love, Inc is unable to help, clients will be referred to the appropriate agency. Programs include: Friday Backpack Program (healthy snacks for weekends), Adopt-A-Student Backpack Program (supplies and backpack for the school year), personal care pantry, winter coat drive, Helping Hands Baby Ministry, Love Inc's Clothing Closet (a thrift store for the Canton community), and budgeting classes.

Personal hygiene items and laundry detergent - Other needs: varies based on ability - Diapers: Available based on donations Spiritual support School supplies: Applications open Monday, July 8 - Friday, July 12, 2024. Distribution day is Saturday, August 10, 2024. To get an application, go to SA office. People on SNAP automatically qualify. People who qualify receive a card that they need to bring that to the distribution date. Students are also given a brand new pair of shoes.

The Community Connection Center (CCC) is a one-stop-shop that addresses the needs of Vermillion community members by coordinating the efforts of local organizations. The CCC is a networking hub that houses a full range of community services designed to enhance the lives of children, families and communities, including United Way of Vermillion, Evan Project Diaper Bank, Vermillion Food Pantry, Salvation Army Emergency Fund, Welcome Table, Tanager Takeout/Weekend Backpack Program, Back to School Backpack Program, VITA, ROCS Outreach, and Allen's Bed Bank.

The Contact Center helps residents of Yankton County with the following: A food pantry Utility assistance, including past due and disconnect bills for water, lights, and heating Gasoline Partial rent Representative payee system Emergency medication assistance - Children's backpacks available. Typically available in August. 2024: Collaboration with United Way. August 15, 2024 at Contact Center 4:00pm - 6:00pm. Students must be enrolled in the Yankton School District. Deadline to register for a backpack is August 9, 2024. Contact Center does not help with any kind of deposit (rent, utility, etc).

Services at the Love Feast of Mitchell include: Meal Program: Meal handout twice a month. Deliveries available. Backpack Program: Kids get a backpack of school supplies. Application Form is required. Shoe voucher to Head Start through K-8th grade before school starts. Distribution is held at Downtown First United Methodist Church basement.

Nearly all efforts are focused on Latin immigrants. For immigrant families in need: Can provide food, furniture, school supplies, household items, and diapers Also provides: Organizing community English classes and connecting ESL volunteers with new English language learners Networking with immigration service providers in Eastern South Dakota Creating a general referral service for immigrants needing assistance Arranging translation services when needed Assisting families with their efforts to change immigration status Community outreach to educate the non-immigrant community about obstacles immigrants experience in the Brookings area

All of the proceeds sold in the store go back to support the community. These include School Supplies, Backpack Blessings - a small package consists of 1 entree, 2 snacks, 1 fruit, and 1 breakfast (distributed on a normal two-day weekend), assisting families and community projects, Angel Tree Christmas Gifts for families, Winter Clothing (coats, snow pants, boots, hat, and gloves/mittens), and a food pantry for people that have food insecurities and are not able to utilize the ROCS Food Pantry at the Aurora County Courthouse.
