Also provides services to their families. Incorporating counseling, case management, and family support services, with the goal of assisting in the development of a nurturing and stable family environment in which children may grow. A counselor along with family, individuals supporting the family, and professionals will develop a customized treatment plan which will assist in meeting the needs of the child and family.
Services provided to program participants include 24-hour crisis assistance, counseling services, chemical dependency screenings and assessments, case management, dedication management, psychiatric services, classes and workshops on mental health topics, early childhood mental health services, and play therapy for children ages 0 to 5. Some therapies offered in this program include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), and Aggression Replacement Therapy (ART).

Serving families of children with disabilities and special health needs for 40 years; services include individual assistance, connection to programs at the local, state and national level, and helps parents and schools navigate the special education process.
Staff also deliver workshops in-person for groups upon request. Willing to work with parents and professionals to develop and deliver training based on the needs of the group. Workshops/presentations are delivered at no cost to parents. A nominal fee structure is in place for delivery to professional groups.

Common Sense Parenting Class: Classes are interactive and include videotaped examples to watch, rather than a lecture format. In order to receive a certificate for class attendance, all participants must attend the first session, and be present for five out of six classes. For more information, or to register please call. SMILE: Education program for separating and divorcing parents with children under the age of 18, designed to inform parents how to better understand the effects of divorce; assist parents to understand the needs of their children; help parents learn what they can do to create a nurturing and safe environment so their children can recover and feel good about themselves; inform parents how to prevent destructive game playing that is common among divorce; help parents gain problem solving skills. Immigrant families in need are provided food, furniture, school supplies, household items, and diapers.
Also provides organizing community English classes and connecting ESL volunteers with new English language learners, networking with immigration service providers in Eastern South Dakota, creating a general referral service for immigrants needing assistance, arranging translation services when needed, assisting families with their efforts to change immigration status, and community outreach to educate the non-immigrant community about obstacles immigrants experience in the Brookings area.
