Provides emergency assistance for those in either Minnehaha/Lincoln County with rent and deposits, Utility bills: Must have a disconnect notice for water, lights, or heating; Food and non-food items, Burial: Clients should begin by choosing a funeral home and meet with them prior to applying for assistance through Minnehaha County. Also provides transportation assistance, dental care, medical care (hospitalization) and Medications. Minnehaha County residents can also receive assistance with Shelter, Gasoline or bus ticket for transients/nonresidents stranded here and needing to get home. Out of town travel assistance is not offered to MC residents. Identification and or birth certificate (if needed for the purposes of obtaining employment/housing). The majority of assistance provided is in the form of a no-interest loan for which a lien is created. The client does not receive any bill from County but is expected to repay the debt, starting in a time frame created by the caseworker. Applicants can choose to walk-in to the office or receive a phone call to complete an interview. Those applying for transportation, medications or ID/BC assistance should come into the office to apply.

Founded on the belief that everyone deserves a home. Pathways offers four different shelter programs: - Emergency Shelter for Families: - 8 rooms designated for households with children. Families will receive 30 days for free in a 12-month period. After 30 days, rent will be charged for extended stay. - Tier 2 Services: - 2 rooms designated for men and women seeking a more permanent residence and access to more services. To qualify for this program, individuals must be employed or be able to pay rent at the start. Total of 4 beds for women and 4 beds for men. - Community Transition Program: - Partnership with South Dakota Department of Corrections; provides 8 beds for men who are needing to re-enter the community. These individuals must follow the same guidelines for admission as other clients. Through the Emergency Solutions Grant, Pathways offers two programs: - Homeless Prevention - For individuals and families who are unable to pay their rent or utilities and will otherwise be displaced from their residence. Call staff to learn more about eligibility requirements. - Rapid Re-housing - For individuals who have found potential housing but may not yet have the funds to secure that housing. For those who are eligible, Pathways may be able to pay first month's rent, rental deposit and utility deposit. Call staff to learn more about eligibility requirements. Funding through the Security Deposit Assistance Program allows Pathways to operate a program solely to assist with security deposits.

Services that can be provided include case management, security deposit and rent assistance. These services are aimed at helping participants to retain their housing, therefore avoiding homelessness, or to re-enter appropriate permanent housing as quickly as possible. Housing Repair / Rehabilitation: Provides a zero-interest, five-year decreasing balance loan for eligible homeowners to be used for accessibility modifications for persons with disabilities, in addition to making necessary repairs for health, safety and code compliance. Self-Help Housing Rehabilitation: Eligible participants will work with program staff to identify their specific needs and to create a work plan. The Program Coordinator will find the best funding sources available to the homeowners and assist them throughout the process. Weatherization and Furnace Replacement Program: Aimed at making housing for low-income persons more energy-efficient and less costly for the residents. The residence is audited and a list of needs is developed. The program provides the materials and pays contractors for the labor to weatherize the home (caulk cracks, insulate, weather-strip, fix windows, etc.). Furnaces can be repaired or replaced, if not repairable, through the program. In addition, some inefficient/high-cost non-operating appliances (range / refrigerator / water heater) can also be replaced in certain circumstances. Homeless Rent and Deposit: Helping homeless households get into housing. Must provide steady and reliable source of income. Applicant must agree to case management services.

The county is a resource of last resort, available only after all other resources have been exhausted. Any applicant who receives assistance will have a lien filed in their name for that amount and will be responsible for repayment of that lien to the County. Requests for assistance with: - Rent/Deposit Partial assistance with the current month's rent. Rental deposits are limited to the availability of grant funds. - Mortgage Partial assistance of one month's payment if applicant meets program qualifications. - Utilities Partial assistance with past due bills for water, electric, natural gas and propane usage. Additional utility charges and fees limited to the availability of grant funds. - Transportation Costs Assistance with bus passes or gasoline for verifiable medical appointments or new employment. - Medical Assistance may include emergency prescription medications, specialty physician services, hospitalizations, and insurance premiums. Services may require prior approval. - Burial or Cremation Pennington County residents without resources or family members to assist.

The Auditor's Office is responsible for auditing all accounts and maintaining all financial records in and for Meade County. This includes preparing the annual budget, establishing levies and apportioning of all tax collections. Monthly audits of all cash and cash items in the hands of the County Treasurer and a verification of bank account balances are performed. Annual Financial Reports are prepared indicating the receipts and expenditures, liabilities and equity, and assets of the County. The Auditor is the clerk for the Board of County Commissioners and keeps an accurate record of their official proceedings including the Board of Equalization hearings. The Auditor preserves all documents, books, and records as required by law. Notary Public services available. Some fees may apply. The Auditor performs all the duties required by law relative to all County, State and Federal elections held in the County. The Auditor also maintains all records of voter registration and election history. As a last resort (meaning citizens have exhausted all other options), the Auditor's office might be able to provide assistance emergency rental payment situations.

Assistance is for a one-time emergency situation only, not on a yearly basis. Clients must have tried seeking assistance from Minnehaha or Lincoln County Human Services prior to a caseworker visit. The client must provide: A Notice of Action from Minnehaha County or Lincoln County An eviction notice - Proof of income - Proof of income can include the following: Wages, self-employment, Child Support, Alimony, Social Security, SSI, SSI State Supplement, BIA GA, TANF-Food Stamps, Unemployment, Worker's Compensation, Section 8, Veteran's Benefits, Retirement, Pensions, Annuities, Dividends, Rental Income, Tribal Lease, Per Capita Income, Prizes, Money from Family or Friends, and/ or all other sources of income for all persons living in the home. Picture ID for all adults in the household Social Security numbers for everyone in the household Names and date of birth for all children in the household
The Contact Center helps residents of Yankton County with the following: A food pantry Utility assistance, including past due and disconnect bills for water, lights, and heating Gasoline Partial rent Representative payee system Emergency medication assistance - Children's backpacks available. Typically available in August. 2024: Collaboration with United Way. August 15, 2024 at Contact Center 4:00pm - 6:00pm. Students must be enrolled in the Yankton School District. Deadline to register for a backpack is August 9, 2024. Contact Center does not help with any kind of deposit (rent, utility, etc).

Provides both economic and medical assistance to residents of Beadle County on a one time basis. Economic assistance is for current amounts only (no overdue bills). No payment for deposits of any kind. Rent, Utility assistance for current bills may be available for water, lights, and heating, and Medical, hospitalization, and burial assistance requires pre-approval if not for emergency services. All other resources must have been exhausted first. Assistance does require payback and county lien is filed until paid in full.
