​ Offers low interest rate loans, deferred loans and forgivable loans to assist with repairing or replacing home's electrical, plumbing, furnace, water heater, roofing, decks, steps, windows, doors and other life safety issues. Eligibility for the programs are determined by income, and family size (based on county of residence). HUD certified counselors can help people walk through this process, from start to finish. Home must be on a permanent foundation to qualify for program. Manufactured homes on rented lots are not eligible properties. Eligible properties must be owner occupied.

Each conference seeks to serve the gaps in services in the communities they serve. Friends in need may be offered referral to other agencies, advocacy, or direct assistance: which may include utility bill and rent assistance payments, or clothing, food, pharmacy and transportation vouchers to meet basic, immediate and emergency needs.

Brookings Area Habitat for Humanity's vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. BAHFH offers an opportunity of homeownership to families that otherwise couldn't afford to purchase one on their own. Applicants must have a need for better housing, the ability to pay an affordable mortgage and willingness to partner with Habitat for Humanity through our "sweat equity" program. Habitat provides homeowners with financial and homeownership counseling, opportunites to work on their own home, and homeownership with a payment they can afford.

Builds homes for people in need: Habitat for Humanity builds houses in partnership with volunteers and people in need and then sells the homes to those people in need, known as partner families. Partner families are selected by Habitat based on: their need for housing; their willingness to partner with Habitat; and the ability to pay a 0% interest mortgage. Assists in restoration on exterior of existing homes for people in need: Volunteers (including youth groups), are organized and recruited by Hub Area Habitat for Humanity to assist with the following projects for income eligible homeowners including: Exterior painting or siding, Minor exterior home repairs, or Yard work including: weeding, trimming shrubbery, raking leaves (yard rehabilitation, not lawn mowing). This does not include tree trimming of taking down a tree. Help Build It Center: a store where items can be donated and purchased at discounted prices. Items consist of: light fixtures, bathroom fixtures, furniture, appliances, carpet, wood and tile flooring, windows and doors, paints and stains and other miscellaneous home goods.

Brings volunteers, contractors, families, and community members together to provide safe, affordable housing and home repairs for qualified low-income families. Home Repair Project: helps homeowners with exterior repairs including handicap accessible upgrades, fixing doors and windows, painting, replacing siding, and fixing out of control landscaping. Habitat Homeownership: Offers the opportunity for qualifying families to become homeowners. Applications are only accepted when enrollment is open. There is no waiting list for the program. This office oversees: Safety and Home Grant Program - Provides up to $5,000 grants to income eligible homeowners for qualifying health and safety repair projects (including sidewalk repair). These funds do not need to be repaid, but are limited. Click here for details, eligibility requirements and online application. Rental Rehabilitation Program - Up to $30,000 per rental unit; $100,000 maximum per project, depending on equity. Funds may be used to replace roofs, siding, insulation, exterior painting or installing energy efficient windows and doors. Funding may also be used for interior updates. Single Family Housing Rehabilitation Program - provides financial and technical assistance for housing rehabilitation needs including but not limited to roofs, doors, stairs, painting, insulation, handicap accessibility, windows, electrical, plumbing and furnace replacements. Maintenance repairs are not included in this program. Emergency Mobile Home Repair Program - provides up to $5,000 to help pay for emergency repairs. Maintenance repairs are not included in this program. Neighborhood Revitalization Program - designed to remove dilapidated housing structures which are unsafe, and replace with new affordable housing options. New, owner-occupied residential structures constructed and eligible for income qualified households to purchase. Loan payments are only required when the home is sold or is no longer the primary residence.
