Keeping children safe by providing child safety seats at no cost to families that meet income eligibility requirements to ensure that they are in the best child seat for their height and weight until they are at least 4'9. At 4'9, most children can safely wear a seat belt. Current South Dakota law states that any operator of any passenger vehicle transporting a child under five years of age on the streets and highways of this state shall properly secure the child in a child passenger restraint system, and that the operator of a motor vehicle must make sure that a passenger who is at least five and younger than 18 must be wearing a properly adjusted and fastened safety seat belt system. If the belts don't fit properly, the operator must find another safety belt system to secure the child (SD Law 32-37). This program distributes child seats to income eligible parents and children statewide, by assessing financial need. The communities listed may have local distribution partners. Alcohol and Drug Program treatment approach is based on the 12-step program of Alcoholics Anonymous and reality therapy. Case Management and IMPACT Programs, designed to help clients with severe and persistent mental illness, services include case management and continued care, medication management with psychiatrist, crisis intervention assistance, and psychiatric rehabilitation which seeks to provide program services that assist clients in developing skills and manage resources needed to allow them to be successful in the community. A client centered, client directed form of treatment, the program consists of services designed to restore the disabled person to a level of functioning which permits a useful, meaningful life.

The county may be able to assist with the following: Medical Assistance: for indigent residents of Lawrence County who do not have health insurance or any other means of paying medical bills. Economic Assistance: for rent, utilities, and burials. Rent and utility assistance may be approved once in a 12 month period.

Provides Public Health Nursing and Maternal Child Healthcare Services through various programs. General public health services include professional nursing and nutrition information and guidance on health, safety, and nutrition for individuals, families, and communities. Services such as influenza vaccinations and screenings for blood pressure, hearing, vision, and hemoglobin are available at a fee. Maternal Child Healthcare provides Infant Sleep Safety services, immunizations, and pregnancy support services. Infant Sleep Safety services provide education on infant safe sleep practices and link families to resources when the purchase of a crib is a financial hardship. ​Immunizations services are available for children from birth through age 18 for all universally recommended vaccinations including influenza. The Vaccines for Children's Program provides vaccines for children who are uninsured, have insurance that does not cover vaccinations, are Medicaid eligible, or are Native American or Alaskan Native. For families with insurance coverage, the Department of Health is an in-network provider for Sanford, Avera/Dakotacare, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. ​Pregnancy Support Services include regular visits with a nurse to share information about pregnancy, to provide assistance in obtaining early and on-going prenatal care from a qualified healthcare provider, and to link women to resources they may need to support a healthy pregnancy. Teaching topics may include: how your body is changing and how your baby is growing; eating healthy and gaining the right amount of weight; warning signs or symptoms that indicate you should contact your doctor; breastfeeding education and support; and caring for you and your baby after delivery. The Watertown and Sisseton locations are also able to provide car seats for all ages at no cost.

Works to increase identification of youth and families who have been exposed to traumatic stress and shorten the time it takes to get them into effective treatment programs. Offers free screenings to children who may be experiencing traumatic stress, and then, if information warrants, a full assessment will be scheduled. Youth and families who are identified as experiencing traumatic stress will be referred to appropriate treatment providers. A community wide pantry (Brandon Valley School District) where individuals in need can receive an emergency supply of 5 days of food assistance and personal care items up to 4 times a year.

Each conference seeks to serve the gaps in services in the communities they serve. Friends in need may be offered referral to other agencies, advocacy, or direct assistance: which may include utility bill and rent assistance payments, or clothing, food, pharmacy and transportation vouchers to meet basic, immediate and emergency needs.

• Provides both economic and medical assistance to residents of Beadle County on a one time basis. Economic assistance is for current amounts only. No payment for deposits of any kind. All other resources must have been exhausted first. Assistance does require payback and county lien is filed until paid in full. Planning & Zoning services include:

• Takes applications for building permits, administers the County zoning ordinances and makes recommendations to the Commission for granting or denying the permits. Must be behind (i.e.: if rent is due on the 5th, come for assistance after the 5th). Eviction notice is not required, however, there will be a form the landlord needs to complete the verify rent is past due.

Medical assistance programs include: ​Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP): Coverage includes such things as doctor, hospital, prescription drugs, counseling, dental and glasses. Insurance for children up to age 19 at no cost to the family if the income is below certain income levels found on the Federal Poverty Guidelines. If the family income is below 140%, the children may be eligible with or without private health insurance. If there is insurance, CHIP will pay the deductibles, co-insurance, and possibly some medical services not covered by the private insurance. ​Medicaid: Health care coverage for people who qualify. To be eligible for Medicaid, individuals must fall into a coverage group and meet certain financial and non-financial eligibility criteria. Court approved divorce and custody mediator, parent coordinator, and custody evaluator. Individual, couples, and family counseling with expertise in blended families, marriage, family counseling, play therapy, trauma, child abuse, post traumatic stress (PTSD), and sexual assault.

Provides the following services: comprehensive assessment, outpatient child/adult counseling and psychiatric services, medication management, group and family counseling, community support and education, telepsychiatry consultation, and dual diagnosis treatment. Also offers behavioral health services: medication management, counseling, case management, integrated care, addiction services, and Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT).

Committed to helping people who are experiencing emotional, psychological, personal, or family problems to increase hope and fulfill their treatment goals for a better life.

Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) is a supplemental food program that enables eligible households to obtain a more nutritious diet. Eligibility is determined by income, resources, and household size. Lost, stolen, or damaged EBT (SNAP) cards must call customer service to report the loss of your card. You will need to enter the card number. If you do not have the card, stay on the line for a second prompt and press 2. Reporting an EBT card as lost, stolen, or damaged will result in that card being declined.

Offers reasonably priced clothing and household items to the public. Financial assistance is also offered for household items with proof of a current lease and a voucher signed by a referring agency.

Pharmacy services include immunizations, prescription refills, health screenings, and a medication disposal drop box. - Medication disposal drop-boxes for expired, unused or unwanted controlled, non-controlled, and over the counter medications, including pet medications. Items that are NOT accepted include: trash, regulated medical waste, sharps, syringes, thermometers, hazardous waste, aerosols, illicit drugs, or commercial waste.

Transitional housing for up to 20 males. Typically a meeting happens with the inmate prior to release, but might be able to help people already release if space is available. Program also helps anyone re-entering society after incarceration with finding employment, clothes, furniture, etc. (based on what is currently available). An independent entity working alongside and in cooperation with Cornerstone Prison Church (prison congregation in Sioux Falls), Livingstone Prison Church (prison congregation in Springfield), and Metal Craft Industries.
