A 10-week intensive counseling program for adoptive and foster families with children ages 5-12. Program activities include caregiver education, kids club, and family therapy. Based on Trust Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI) principles, HALO program was created by Cindy Lee at HALO Project and has shown amazing results for this population.

Common Sense Parenting is a product of years of research compiled by Girls and Boys Town, Nebraska. This program is a step-by-step guide for raising responsible children and building strong, happy families. Parents will learn how to reduce family stress, support success in school, enrich parent/child relationships, reduce problem behavior, and diminish yelling and fighting. It teaches skills to help parents build better families. Topics focus on positive/negative consequences, staying calm, teaching self control, effective praise, and parents as teachers. Classes are offered about every 6 weeks. Both at Children's Home Shelter for Family Safety and virtually.

A public health nutrition program for income-eligible infants and children up to age 5, pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women. WIC provides nutrition education to help make healthy eating choices, breastfeeding education for expectant and new mothers looking to learn more about their infant nutrition options, referrals to connect families with quality medical care and other community services, and food benefits to help families purchase nutritious groceries at participating businesses statewide.

Individual therapy for ages 14 and up. Topics discussed include: anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, chronic pain, stress management, employment issues, abuse, grief and loss, LGBTQ+ counseling, and women's issues. Telehealth sessions available.

Provides a food pantry consists of shelf-stable food items, school supplies, household items, and hygiene items. Applications for food assistance are available by visiting the T4 Foundation office or can be sent via email.

Provides a nutritious and kid-friendly package of food to children 18 years old or younger in need over the weekends during the summer months. Families may receive one backpack per child once a week. Children must be present to receive food. No income guidelines or paperwork is required. Visit the website to see a listing of upcoming dates. This will be updated throughout the summer. ICAP Children and Family Services include the following: Half Day Services: Eligible children ages 3 - 5 will receive 3 1/2 hours of center-based preschool, 4 days per week, September - May. (limited locations) EHS Home Based Services: A home visitor meets with eligible women who are pregnant and/or families with children under the age of 3 once per week for 1 1/2 hours (at a regularly scheduled time). Group socialization meetings are held twice per month. Child Development Center: Madison and Sioux Falls (ages 4 weeks - 3 years) can receive early childhood services and childcare each day year-round at ICAP's childcare center.

Builds homes for people in need: Habitat for Humanity builds houses in partnership with volunteers and people in need and then sells the homes to those people in need, known as partner families. Partner families are selected by Habitat based on: their need for housing; their willingness to partner with Habitat; and the ability to pay a 0% interest mortgage. Assists in restoration on exterior of existing homes for people in need: Volunteers (including youth groups), are organized and recruited by Hub Area Habitat for Humanity to assist with the following projects for income eligible homeowners including: Exterior painting or siding, Minor exterior home repairs, or Yard work including: weeding, trimming shrubbery, raking leaves (yard rehabilitation, not lawn mowing). This does not include tree trimming of taking down a tree. Help Build It Center: a store where items can be donated and purchased at discounted prices. Items consist of: light fixtures, bathroom fixtures, furniture, appliances, carpet, wood and tile flooring, windows and doors, paints and stains and other miscellaneous home goods.

Crisis intervention, assessments, counseling, and case management services that help young people and their families overcome challenges and pave the way for an improved quality of life. Provides support to individuals suffering from mental health issues, alcohol and drug abuse, child abuse and neglect, domestic violence, and crime victimization. Support is also provided to individuals struggling with personality development and relationship issues. Holy Innocents Ministry offers diapers, wipes, and formula vouchers to qualified families at no charge. Program may be utilized once every 60 days.

Provides Public Health Nursing and Maternal Child Healthcare Services through various programs. General public health services include professional nursing and nutrition information and guidance on health, safety, and nutrition for individuals, families, and communities. Services such as influenza vaccinations and screenings for blood pressure, hearing, vision, and hemoglobin are available at a fee. Maternal Child Healthcare provides Infant Sleep Safety services, immunizations, and pregnancy support services. Infant Sleep Safety services provide education on infant safe sleep practices and link families to resources when the purchase of a crib is a financial hardship. ​Immunizations services are available for children from birth through age 18 for all universally recommended vaccinations including influenza. The Vaccines for Children's Program provides vaccines for children who are uninsured, have insurance that does not cover vaccinations, are Medicaid eligible, or are Native American or Alaskan Native. For families with insurance coverage, the Department of Health is an in-network provider for Sanford, Avera/Dakotacare, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. ​Pregnancy Support Services include regular visits with a nurse to share information about pregnancy, to provide assistance in obtaining early and on-going prenatal care from a qualified healthcare provider, and to link women to resources they may need to support a healthy pregnancy. Teaching topics may include: how your body is changing and how your baby is growing; eating healthy and gaining the right amount of weight; warning signs or symptoms that indicate you should contact your doctor; breastfeeding education and support; and caring for you and your baby after delivery. The Watertown and Sisseton locations are also able to provide car seats for all ages at no cost.

Services are provided within the patient's home. Includes non-skilled nursing care (e.g. foot care, general assessment, medication management, colostomy care, etc.), personal care (e.g. bathing, hair care, oral/mouth care, exercises, and medication reminders), and housekeeping (e.g. vacuuming, dusting, kitchen/refrigerator cleaning, bathroom cleaning, laundry, etc.). Provides skilled in-home physical, occupational, and speech therapy, as well as social work.

A 25-bed critical access hospital that also houses an 84-bed senior care facility and specialty clinic for visiting physicians. The hospital offers 24-hour emergency service, inpatient and outpatient care, and hospice.

Services provided by this office are a last resort. If eligibility criteria are met, assistance may include burial assistance, medical expense assistance, utility assistance, and rent assistance.

Provides developmental screenings, parent education, and early intervention services at no cost for families who have children from birth up to age 3. This program is designed to help children whom have difficulty learning, growing, or behaving like other children in their age group or have a medical condition. ​The Birth to Three Program contributes to the success of children with developmental delays and their families by providing dynamic, individualized early intervention services and supports by building on family strengths through every day routines and learning experiences.

Offers three weeks of hands-on musical learning for kids and teens to work directly with the artists to grow their skills in music and build confidence in themselves.

ICAP Emergency Services helps with emergency utilities and rent (Rent assistance is NOT available to those residing in Sioux Falls) for income qualified households. Must meet all requirements. Also offers food pantry vouchers to those who qualify (cannot receive SNAP).

Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) is a supplemental food program that enables eligible households to obtain a more nutritious diet. Eligibility is determined by income, resources, and household size. Lost, stolen, or damaged EBT (SNAP) cards must call customer service to report the loss of your card. You will need to enter the card number. If you do not have the card, stay on the line for a second prompt and press 2. Reporting an EBT card as lost, stolen, or damaged will result in that card being declined.

Youth & Family Services (YFS) Rapid City Head Start is a federally funded, no-cost, parent-focused education program that serves low-income children, ages 4 weeks-5 years, and their families. Program goals include increasing social skills and school readiness for young children while increasing the self-sufficiency for families. YFS Rapid City Head Start gives priority to families who meet the household income guidelines or have children with disabilities. Income guidelines are established by the federal government each year. All services are free of charge for participants who qualify. Head Start® is a registered trademark of HHS.
